Jerome T. Murphy

I am a Partner at Tressler LLP, a national law firm based in Chicago, where I represent clients in complex civil defence litigation and real estate matters. My practice includes governmental tort defence, commercial disputes, breach of contract claims, toxic tort litigation, personal injury, medical malpractice, nursing home and wrongful death cases, as well as representing buyers and sellers in real estate transactions.

I am a third-generation attorney, and my passion for the law began by watching my grandfather, father and uncles serve their community with integrity and professionalism. Their example inspired me to pursue a career where I could help others through careful preparation, honest communication and thoughtful advocacy.

I earned my degree in Economics from the University of Illinois before graduating cum laude from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2014. Throughout my career, I have learned that success comes from setting realistic goals, preparing thoroughly and always being willing to learn. One early courtroom setback taught me the importance of anticipating every possible argument, a lesson that continues to shape how I prepare for every case today.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading philosophy, history and economics, hiking forest preserve trails, golfing, travelling to historical landmarks and participating in my church community. I strive to approach every client and every matter with humility, diligence and the same level of care as if it were my first case.
