Joseph Hunt
New York, NY
Joe Hunt is a Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Army. He currently serves as the Veterans Outreach Specialist at Guardian Revival, where he is responsible for raising awareness about the organization’s unique approach to improving the mental health and well-being of service members, veterans, and their families. He is also responsible for developing strategic relationships with veteran-serving organizations to provide complimentary programs and services to grow their membership.
After completing his military service and finishing college, Joe moved to New York to begin a career in marketing communications. He co-founded two successful marketing communications startups, leading campaigns for underserved divisions of major corporations, including Columbia House Music Club, American Express, Chase Manhattan Bank, and Prudential Retirement Services.
Joe later transitioned into the nonprofit sector to serve military-connected communities. He served as Director of the Veterans Mental Health Coalition of New York City. There, he managed an initiative that delivered Veterans Mental Health First Aid training in seven states. He also served Director of Special Projects at the Silberman School of Social Work’s Project Return and Opportunity for Veterans Education.
Joe went on to work with the Sierra Club Military Outdoors, where he organized and launched the New York Outdoor Rx Coalition—a collective of public and private organizations working to improve access to New York’s parks, public lands, and waters for service members, veterans, and their families. As Director of the coalition, he expanded its reach to over 150 unique organizations across 54 of New York’s 62 counties.
His commitment to the military-connected community continues through his work at Guardian Revival and as a member of the advisory board for Blue Star Families’ New York Tri-State Chapter.
