John Barrett MD

John Barrett, MD, is a board-certified physician who specializes in obstetrics and gynecology. Most recently, John Barrett, MD, served as an OB/GYN in the greater Pittsburgh area and served as an assistant clinical professor at Mercy Hospital UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA. In 2012, he also spent some time in Guyana as acting chair of the Department of OB/GYN at Georgetown Public Hospital.
John Barrett, MD, earned his bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he graduated summa cum laude. He subsequently earned his medical degree from the same institution, graduating cum laude in 1996. After graduating, Dr. Barrett undertook his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Women and Infants’ Hospital at the Brown University School of Medicine in Rhode Island.
Following the completion of his residency, Dr. Barrett joined OB/GYN Associates, Inc., at Women and Infants’ Hospital. He then returned to Pittsburgh, PA, to treat patients at Womancare Associates at Magee Women’s Hospital, where he served for seven years. Dr. Barrett joined Mercy Hospital UPMC in Pittsburgh, PA, in 2008.
In his spare time, Dr. Barrett enjoys staying physical fit through activities such as playing tennis.
