John Hotta

John Hotta is a board director with more than 25 years of technology experience. He graduated with honors from Harvard University, the Wharton School at Penn, and UCLA. The Financial Times named Hotta as one of the Agenda Directors 50.
Hotta was an executive at Microsoft, Accenture, and AT&T. He began his career at the RAND Corporation as an AI researcher. He published AI research in the 1980s.
He advises companies to lower costs using business intelligence, enterprise architecture, cloud, network integration, and cybersecurity. And increase company revenue and profits by using AI, ML, customer intelligence, customer experience, and disruption. John is a Qualified Technology Expert and faculty in the Digital Directors Network (DDN).
Hotta has more than 30 years in business leadership roles. He had P&L responsibility for over $1B. He built a reputation for: (1) operational excellence (demonstrated by company top awards), (2) work at the highest level of integrity, (3) strategic and innovative thinking, and (4) a deep and passionate commitment to customers. He has a proven track record of managing large teams across continents in India, China, Brazil, Eastern Europe, Singapore, and Japan.
John has more than eight years of experience in board governance, continually improving the value contributed by boards. He has served as chair and vice chair of two six-billion-plus dollar organizations. He also served on the Audit Committee to ensure compliance and ERM responsibilities. He has served on Nominating and Governance Committees to bring a pipeline of talent to boards. He recruits new experience to boards from his professional networks with the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), technology talent via the Digital Directors Network (DDN), and diverse directors via Ascend Pinnacle. He has earned designations as a: (1) Board Leadership Fellow and (2) Governance Fellow from NACD.
He advises startups, turnarounds, and companies in transition to new ownership. Also, Hotta advises and speaks to boards through NACD and has close relationships with CEOs and mentoring relationships with C-suite leaders.
In addition to serving on boards, Hotta is managing partner of Capital Expert Services, LLC, which he co-founded. Capital Expert Services co-authored The Art of M&A, Fifth Edition. The book, published in 2019 by McGraw-Hill Education, is in the top-ten M&A books sold by Amazon.
