John J Cronan MD
After more than 30 years working in radiology, John J. Cronan, MD, has earned considerable acclaim for his expertise, and he has held many important posts in the field. Dr. Cronan took his first steps toward his future profession when he enrolled at Providence College in 1969. He graduated from the school magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and then entered Albany Medical College, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine. John J. Cronan, MD, subsequently undertook an internship and residencies with Yale University-affiliated institutions, working out of Waterbury Hospital and Yale-New Haven Hospital. At the latter facility, he became Chief Resident of Diagnostic Radiology in 1979. In 1980, he was granted a fellowship with Massachusetts General Hospital. Following his formal education and training, John J. Cronan, MD, began working with Brown University and Rhode Island Hospital in a variety of capacities. After starting out as a Clinical Assistant Professor for the Diagnostic Radiology department at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Dr. Cronan became a Clinical Associate Professor, then a full Clinical Professor in 1994. He currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging. John J. Cronan, MD, began his career with Rhode Island Hospital as an Assistant Radiologist in 1982. In 1986, he became a full Radiologist, and in 1994 he was promoted to Radiologist-in-Chief, a position he also holds at Lifespan Academic Campus, which is an affiliate of Brown. Dr. Cronan’s administrative duties with the hospital were wide-ranging and culminated with his election as President of the Staff Association and Chairman of the Executive Committee. John J. Cronan, MD, assumes a variety of other roles in the radiology community. He is a reviewer, editor, and contributor to countless medical journals. He also sits on a number of important committees, and he is a member of and executive for several radiology societies. Furthermore, he has been a participant in numerous exhibits and presentations. When away from the office, John J. Cronan, MD, enjoys a good game of golf.
