John Bailey

John Bailey serves as a strategic advisor to several philanthropies and technology companies. His experience includes senior positions in the private sector, federal government, and philanthropy working on a wide range of issues including education, technology, and healthcare.
John previously served as a domestic policy advisor in the White House, Deputy Policy Director to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, and Director of Educational Technology at the U.S. Department of Education.
He co-founded Whiteboard Advisors which helpedclients navigate fragmented, highly regulated markets to achieve scale and make an impact.He also served as a senior program officer at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He most recently served as VP of Policy for Governor Jeb Bush’s Foundation for Excellence in Education.
John co-chaired the Aspen Institute’s Task Force on Connected Learning and was a member of the U.S. Department of Education’s Higher Education Commission. John is on the board of directors for the Data Quality Campaign and previously served on the DC board for the social innovation fund Indego Africa. He has served as an advisor to four Presidential campaigns. He is an alumnus of the American Council on Germany Young Leaders Program, a Pahara-Aspen Institute Fellow, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
