An Alaska law enforcement professional with more than 15 years of experience, John Rhyshek joined the Bristol Bay Police Department in 2010. Committed to all aspects of public safety for the community, he oversees a dispatch center and detention facility, and supervises his five-officer department. Previously, John Rhyshek spent 5 years as an officer with the Houston Police Department in Alaska.

A graduate of Gannon University with a bachelor of science in environmental studies with a minor in anthropology, Mr. Rhyshek completed law enforcement training at the Alaska Law Enforcement Training Academy. Prior to embarking on his career in law enforcement. Mr. Rhyshek spent 3 years as a forest technician with the US Forest Service in Petersburg, Alaska, where he maintained backcountry trails and worked on remote cabin construction projects.

In his free time, Mr. Rhyshek enjoys spending time outdoors, pursuing activities such as hiking, camping, and fishing. He is an avid pilot, and also takes an interest in antique cars.
