John Simonse

John WilliamSimonse is 57 years old and attended the United States Merchant Marine Academyin Kings Point, New York. John graduatedfrom the academy in 1980 with highest honors and a Bachelor of Science degreein Marine Engineering. John was a memberof the A side championship rugby team and was also one of only 3 graduatesselected to participate in the prestigious American President Lines (APL) officermanagement training program. Aftercollege John worked on various cargo ships, sailing to over 65 differentcountries, as well as special assignments at APL's corporate headquarters. By age 30, John earned his chief engineerslicense, issued by the U.S. coast guard, for the operation of steam, diesel andgas engines of unlimited horse power.

John was alwaysinterested in real estate and purchased his first property at the age of 20. During the 1990's John decided to turn hisfocus to business entrepreneurship activities and obtained a CA, real estatebroker’s license.

John alsodeveloped and operated a fine food restaurant, bar and night club called JohnnyAngels Tapa Café in Walnut Creek CA, for about 10 years, selling the businessin 1998.

In 1999 Johncombined his interest in real estate and investing by writing the first privateplacement memorandum for the Magnate Funds LLC, a private money loan and realestate development entity. Johnsinglehandedly raised the first round of capital for the Fund and under hismanagement he grew the Magnate Funds to over 50M in investments. During thelast decade, John successfully guided the Magnate funds through the greatrecession and helped create and start a few other similar type investmentfunds. John currently manages loan, realestate development and investment portfolios valued at over 200M. To date, John has funded over 1B in realestate loans and investments.
