John Weaner York County

Serving the York County and Adams County agricultural communities, John Weaner held responsibilities as Vice President and Executive Loan Officer with AgChoice Farm Credit from 1981 to 2009. During his 28 years with the Pennsylvania financial services and agricultural financing cooperative, he handled diverse client accounts including orchards, timber, vegetable farms, and greenhouses. John Weaner managed a wide range of accounts, from those totaling less than $100,000 to those in the multi-million dollar range. John Weaner administered a commercial and agricultural loan portfolio totaling approximately $100 million. He maintained individual discretion to approve loans as high as a half million in value. Undertaking credit analysis of financial data, Mr. Weaner drew up detailed loan narrative presentations. Prior to settling contracts, he reviewed all pertinent legal papers, including complex loan agreement documents underpinning commercial accounts. John Weaner’s areas of expertise with AgChoice Farm Credit extended to marketing and sales initiatives, focused on gaining new loan and lease clients. He conducted public relations activities throughout York County and surrounding areas as well. In working with distressed credit accounts, Mr. Weaner closely monitored and managed loan servicing arrangements. Throughout his time with AgChoice Farm Credit, John Weaner engaged in professional education activities, completing seminars in real estate and machinery appraisal, techniques of credit analysis, sales and marketing, and servicing distressed accounts. He maintained volunteer responsibilities as Treasurer of the Capital Region Chapter of the Cooperative Extension Associations and as Chairman of the Extension Executive Committee of the Adams County Agricultural Extension Service. John Weaner holds previous experience as President of the Penn State Club of Adams County, a group that notably funds the Esther Chase Wood scholarship through an annual Apple Harvest Festival fundraiser.
