Jonathan Benjamin

Pianist. Graduate Rice U 1989. Classically trained. Has worked with Houston Ballet, and currently works for American Repertory Ballet in Princeton, NJ. Recently I played Phillip Glass' "Mad Rush" for Kirk Peterson's "Eyes that Gently Touch"

Jazz-wise, I helped found The Blue Monks in Houston, TX, plus played with all sorts of other groups and solo venues. I also arranged and performed Gershwin songs for a jazz trio/vocalist format for Tim O'Keefe's "Fascinating Evening" in 1999. Recently I had the pleasure of working with Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks playing the music of Jelly Roll Morton for Twyla Tharps "Eight Jelly Rolls."

Currently I'm writing, plotting and planning and I hope to have a CD out next year of some of my own musical thinking.

Thanks for Dropping By!
