New York, New York, United States

Dr. Jonathan Sussman-Fort earned his PhD in auditory neuroscience at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in July 2015. His thesis focused on the processes by which the brain is able to filter and organize complex auditory scenes, such as chaotic street corners. Dr. Jonathan Sussman-Fort examined how humans break down sound mixtures to individual sound components and, from the timing, make sense of a dynamic, changing soundscape. A practical aim involves developing improved prosthetic designs for cochlear implants and hearing aids.

Dr. Sussman-Fort earned a BS from Columbia University in biomedical engineering. As an undergraduate, he performed research assistant duties with the Department of Orthopedic Surgery in the New York University School of Medicine. A particular focus was on working with cadavers in the Laboratory for Minimally Invasive Surgery to understand body mechanics. In 2006, Dr. Sussman-Fort participated in the European Orthopaedic Research Society Conference and spoke on “Factors Affecting the Maximum Flexion Angle in TKR.”

Dr. Jonathan Sussman-Fort has a passion for playing soccer and is a longtime fan of the New York Yankees.
