I am Joon Woo Kim. I love to fish. I do not take it seriously or competitively but I enjoy the relaxed nature of the activity. Any lake or pond has its own scenic view to it. The comfort of nature keeps me sane and cognitive. Personally, I find fishing as an activity that gives an individual an escape from mass thoughts and stress, and sometimes the escape provides just the right answers. I "catch and release" all the fish I reel in, and the thrill of hooking on to a fish is a different experience every time. Most fishermen find their thrill in the “catch”, however; the beauty in the “release” is far more pleasing to witness. The greatest feature on fish is its ability to be swift in any given obstacle. Adaption is a natural instinct and its greatest arsenal. Its ability to adjust to its surroundings is an ability I envy in the human world. The fish are always prepared and confident for any predacious threat. Once they have been caught however, their arsenal is overthrown. The pleasure in out-smarting the agile fish is what most fishermen find pleasure in, but the releasing of the fish gives me a greater feeling of motivation. It gives me motivation because though the fish has been fighting through adversity, once it gets back in the water, it quickly readjusts and continues to survive and strive. No matter the obstacle, find your way to strive and move forward.
