Jordan Witt
Student in Land O' Lakes, Florida
Hello, I’m Jordan.
I’m a freshman at Academy at the Lakes and have been a student here since kindergarten. I am a fan of travel, education, and sports, and I’m also interested in arts and music.
I have been part of the Student Ambassador Program since middle school. I am also a member of the Varsity Football and Track teams. I am in the Key Club for community service, the Boys’ Chorus and String Orchestra. This summer I look forward to attending the National Youth Leadership Forum for Law.
At Academy, there are many aspects that I love. The faculty cares so much about their students; they are ready to help with whatever is needed. I also love that the people and the atmosphere is so positive. I look forward to going to school each day.
I enjoy Academy, not only because of the opportunities in athletics, fine arts, and clubs, but Academy offers a unique trip to the Amazon each summer. My entire family took advantage of this opportunity in 2014.
The trip is through Amazonia Expeditions. High-school aged students may travel with faculty chaperones, or families with younger students may join Academy’s Amazonia Expeditions group for this week-long trip to the Tahuayo Lodge and Research Center in Peru. Amazonia Expeditions, the lodge, and research center are owned and operated by an Academy alumni family.
My trip to the Amazon was an experience that I will never forget. Over our ten days, we fished for piranha, zip lined through the canopy jungle, and met people from all around the world. The diversity of the plants and animals is quite vast. On my trip, I was able to see many different species of monkeys, birds, fish and snakes. Each trip to the Amazon provides a different experience because the animals vary based on changes in the water level.
I look forward to meeting you and sharing my Academy experiences with you.
