Rodenas
dj in Alicante - Ibiza
Jose Rodenas is a Spanish Soulful House Music DJ and creator of the radio program “HAPPY HOUSE FM” that began airing in the year 2000.
He is an avid lover and connoisseur of House music for over fourteen years. He began to take an interest in dance music and “mega-mixes” in the first half of the nineties through compilations edited by national independent labels. His sessions have been heard on multiple local and national radio stations, dance floors, fashion stores, restaurants, beauty centers, or hairdressers… even a catamaran at sunset or in a music auditorium. Any place is good to listen to a session of authentic House rhythms.
As a self-taught DJ, Jose Rodenas began mixing with cassette tapes, a small radio with two turntables, and the simple act of slowing down the tapes with his fingers to obtain the appropriate speed to match the tracks together. In 1995, he began to timidly listen to some more commercial House tracks that were “sneaking” almost by chance into some radio programs. Tracks like “The Buckectheads, The bomb”, “De’Lacy, Hideaway”, “The Original, I love you baby”, “Nightcrawlers, Push the feeling on”, “Todd Terry feat Jocelyn Brown & Martha Wash, Jumpin’”, “Reel to Reel, I like to move it” among others, were the ones that musically convinced José Ródenas to continue on the path of “House music”.
In 1998, José participated in the national DJ contest of Cuarenta Principales, winning for Alicante, already that year with a “House music” session. The negative side of the contest with a provincial final held in a well-known venue in the center of Elche (Alicante) was (and although it seems incredible today), the prohibition by that venue to participate with the House session that he had prepared, to which José flatly refused and never participated in that provincial final. Curiously, many years later and currently, that same venue has ended up programming “House music” in its sessions….
