Board-certified anesthesiologist Dr. Joseph Palmeri practices with Anesthesiologists Associated, Inc., in Tulsa, Oklahoma. At St. Francis Hospital, he provides anesthesia services for all categories of surgical procedures. To help minimize post-operative pain for orthopedic surgery patients, Dr. Joseph Palmeri applies pre-surgery nerve blocks and local anesthetic injections. He also possesses testamur status in transesophageal echocardiography and, in conjunction with conducting anesthesia for heart operations, performs evaluation of patients’ heart function during valve replacement surgeries and coronary artery bypass grafting procedures.

Prior to joining Anesthesiologists Associated, Dr. Palmeri completed a three-year residency with the New York University Department of Anesthesiology. He performed anesthesia in each surgical specialty area, ranging from pediatric and abdominal procedures to interventional radiology and thoracic operations. In the obstetrics practice, he administered epidural anesthesia for patients in labor and aided in the performance of Cesarean sections and other elevated-risk pregnancies. During his final year in residency, Dr. Joseph Palmeri earned nomination as a chief resident, which involved scheduling, acting as an intermediary between residents and faculty, and assisting with residency candidate interviews.

A member of the American Medical Association, Dr. Palmeri also belongs to the Oklahoma State Medical Association and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. He received a BS in biomedical science from Oklahoma State University and an MD from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
