Josh Martin
In December 2009, I graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelors of Science in mechanical engineering and a minor in mathematical sciences. I am now pursuing a career as an energy engineer. Specifically, I am interested in energy efficiency, renewable energy and alternative energy. I am also fascinated by all sustainable technologies and sustainability in general. I enjoy reading about advances in renewable energy and energy efficiency, and it is becoming apparent that these technologies are the way of the future. Furthermore, I believe it is important for young professionals to do everything we can to advance the products and ideas that reduce our impact on the environment without sacrificing the resources of future generations. I enjoy solving problems and believe that my problem solving ability, creativity, and interpersonal skills are among some of my best assets. Unlike some engineers, I have excellent oral and written communication skills that allow me to convey my ideas to colleagues and clients in an effective manner. I am technologically savvy and extremely computer proficient. I built my first computer as a freshman in high school, and I am often the first person my friends come to when they need computer help. I am very familiar with Microsoft’s Office Suite and Windows operating systems, and learning to use new software is very easy for me. In addition to my knowledge of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies, my communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team, are what set me apart from other engineers. Two of my long-term goals are to become a certified Professional Engineer and a Certified Energy Manager. Two of my short-term goals are to become LEED AP certified and to earn a job as an energy engineer (or equivalent position).
