Judith Lewis
Judith comes from a very technical background, having taken programming courses in high school in her home town of Toronto, Canada in 1986. Her Lab time via the school mainframe got her onto the dial-in network and what was then social networking (MUCKs). With moving to the UK in 1996 and the advent of broadband, she has barely logged off since. She has been working in search and online marketing since 1996, when she helped a friend create and market a jewellery and giftware business online. Using her degree in psychology to understand and leverage the ways people were searching for goods and information online, she quickly delved into the world of Search Engine Marketing (SEM) and Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Judith has extensive experience in performing “hands-on” SEO, indulging in everything from keyword research through to content development and link building. She is also a dab hand at strategising social level media campaigns as well as paid search (PPC) campaign creation and management. Prior to joining Project Metal in April 2010, Judith worked at i-level after working in-house across a variety of sectors including retail/eCommerce, high-tech and publishing. Judith worked strategically with the search team for clients including Fidelity, GalaCoral, the National Gallery, NBC Universal, Readers Digest, Bayer, RBS & NatWest, the CIPD, Orange and the COI (UK Government), creating integrated strategies involving paid and natural search combined with social media marketing. At Beyond, a NextFifteen company, Judith is heading up the specialist search team, working to deliver search and social media solutions to clients such as Google, Mimecast, Optimalprint, Virgin Trains, AmEx, Family Search, Mimecast, Amadeus, and others. She is currently working on integrated online strategic solutions, online reputation management, social media engagement strategies, technical auditing, optimisation of digital assets (text, image, video, news, etc), bespoke training, search consultancy and competitive assessment and analysis. Judith is a founding Modern Muse in everywoman’s Modern Muse project, writes regularly for: SEO Chicks as a blogger; Centaur’s “Technology Weekly”, a B2B newsletter covering news around the internet; and Mostly About Chocolate where she writes about her other passion. She speaks at various conferences and enjoys sharing her knowledge. She is up for a “Female Social Media Guru” award.
