My interest in health and wellness began with my exposure to treating patients with pat medical histories of stroke, congestive heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes. As I reviewed the charts of various patients, I realized that so many people had the same list of health problems.
This piqued my interest in Nutritional Genomics which is essentially the study of how food affects our genes and how individual genetic differences can affect the way we respond to nutrients in the foods we consume.
I realized that I had been working on the reactive side of healthcare and made a decision to be on the pro-active side as well. I whole-heartedly believe that healthy food and fitness have a tremendous impact on how we age. Through the inspiration of extraordinary individuals such as Joy Johnson, Mark Sertich, and Ernestine Shepherd, we can live and age gracefully!
