Julia Heller
Musician, writer, and library coordinator in Whitesboro, New York
I am a Program & Event Coordinator in upstate New York, having recently earned my Masters in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Vermont College of Fine Arts. I am a lifelong musician specializing in cello performance, and have performed at weddings and events across the country. In my spare time, I participate in medieval combat reenactment and fantasy roleplaying sports. My interests include health and fitness, cooking, calligraphy, digital art, and clothing design.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area of California, but received my Bachelors from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin. After graduation, I took a year and traveled around the country. In seven months, I drove 30,000 miles and visited all 48 contiguous United States. It was a formative experience and I learned an incredible amount about myself and the world I inhabit. After my trip, I spent a few months in Columbus, Ohio, before moving to central New York State and starting graduate school. Now that I have my Masters, I am focusing on my writing and music as well as my job at a local public library, where I work at the reference desk, plan and run events for teens and adults, and handle the majority of the library's in-house publicity.
