Kelly
Writer, Mother, and Grandma in Bluffton, Indiana
SAHM turned emptynester. Very proud mom of 2 sailors in the World's Greatest Navy, who only sometimes drive me to drinking. Writer. Retired humor columnist. Dog Wrangler. Self-published author. Wife. Grandmama like Endora on "Bewitched."
Kelly Coleman Potter is the author of "Off-Kelter," a weekly humor column that ran in print for ten years, and two books - A Little Off-Kelter...the parenting years, Four Eyes Were Never Better Than Two...and other observations. Potter began writing at a very young age - about as soon as she could hold a pencil and form words. She's a professional kid wrangler, having successfully raised two sons into adulthood. Her hobbies used to include ranting, "You kids are going to drive me to drinking," and collecting loose change in parking lots and couch cushions for her lobotomy fund. Now, they include writing, bragging about her handsome sailor sons, and hanging out with her four dogs. Potter is married to her husband of twenty-three years and resides somewhere in the cornfields of Indiana. She still never passes up a nickel laying on the ground because the lobotomy is never totally out of the question.
From her second book: Kelly Coleman Potter, once known in inner circles as Smelly Kelly, doesn’t see things like most of us do. This could be due to the nearsightedness that presented itself in third grade when she became known as four-eyed Smelly Kelly, but it’s not. According to her high school Journalism teacher, Potter has a unique perspective and outlook on life. She still doesn’t know if that was a compliment or an insult – or perhaps, just a nice way to say she’s weird. In this collection of essays, Potter offers a candid look at the human condition with tales recounting the past and present.
