I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. Taking photographs of clouds with my first 35 mm camera was my inspiration. "What do you see when you look at a cloud?"

When my first nephew arrived I had a captive model! Who doesn't love photographs of kids! I expanded my horizons to include portraits, macro photography, landscapes, sports, digital photography lessons, and "FotoFavors By Karen".

I felt passionate about taking photographs and sharing the beauty of the moment caught in time. I started researching more on techniques and learned more by experimenting. I was a manager in a local family run Minilab for many years, ran the wet lab at a local professional darkroom for several years. I took a class on Photoshop. Talking with others who had the same interest in photography gave me more insight and excitement about doing what I found I loved.

I am an avid reader of all the current photography and computer journals and books as technology is changing so rapidly. I am in a “continuous” mode as there is so much to capture and so many ways to display this wonderful world. I also like to share my enthusiasm with others who might be interested in taking up photography and learning more about how to create that perfect display, once captured.

I worked & played for 28+ years for a local photography studio capturing senior portraits, sports events, and social activities for schools. This brings me into contact with young people and I find it a rewarding challenge to capture their unguarded spirit.

Several years ago, I began promoting what I call “FotoFavors by Karen” which can be done for all kinds of celebrations but I have mainly focused on Bar Mitzvahs and Bat Mitzvahs. I find many people enjoy having a special event memory, especially when it is an informal way to get a picture with a loved one or a couple of close friends, whether they are 13 or 90+ years old!
