About me
I am that sort of person who is get their hands frozen while cycling in the snow because they are too lazy to stop and take their gloves out of the backpack. The most precious thing in my life is my freedom, because it is the prerequisite everything that means anything to me, the people in my life, the places that I have been to
Things I can’t live without: people, all sorts of people, even those who drive me mad, need to know what they are doing and why – stopped watching tv a couple of years ago as I didn’t see the point of made up stories, real people are so much more interesting . Music – but sadly not the experimental sort. When a say has lyrics which make sense and which I can follow I will isten to it again and again and each time find new layers of interpretation.
People puzzle me who say things like: store your hand luggage in the overhead lockers – the whole point of hand luggage is to have it in your hand so you can use it at all times, I can’t go to Canada when there is snow – ever heard of the amazing invention of the jacket? There is no such thing as bad weather, there is only the wrong choice of clothes ; the bicycle season is over – my bike is the means for getting me to all places quickly, there is no season when I want to get somewhere slowly and freeze myself standing at the bus stop;
Time travelling in the library, that is reading old guide books and looking at the places through someone from the time of publication. It’s thrilling.
I am most relaxed: on trains, in airplanes, on my bike, while swimming, Stand up Paddling, while running for the train-à generally when things are moving, the latter two are best for creative thinking, however the first two are much more practical as they allow for scribbling down the thoughts at the instant that they occur. Movement is important though, I tried yoga and it quickly drove me mad.
I am often late in England because buses have no set times, so I don’t know when I have to be at the stop to be on time. In Germany I look up the train/bus/tram beforehand and break the sound barrier in order to catch that one.
I am occasionally late in Germany because of Murphy’s Law
