A graduate of the St. Paul School in Concord, New Hampshire, Karl Ashanti holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy from Stanford University and a law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. He began his legal career with internships at the Center for Applied Legal Studies and the U.S. Department of Labor before taking his first attorney position as a litigation associate with Cole Schotz Meisel Forman & Leonard, P.C. in New York City. In this role, Karl Ashanti gained experience in commercial disputes, insurance coverage, intellectual property, and other areas of litigation.

Over the next several years, Karl Ashanti serviced as litigation associate with several other prominent New York City legal firms, including Stewart Occhipinti & Makow, LLP, Sullivan Papain Block McGrath & Cannavo, LLP, and Armienti DeBellis & Whiten, LLP. He recently served as senior counsel for the Office of the Corporation Counsel in New York City.

Over the years, Karl Ashanti has brought four federal trials to verdict while developing extensive experience in areas such as mediation, settlement negotiations, and legal matters related to civil and constitutional rights. He has also served on panels for industry conferences such as the Practicing Law Institute’s Seminar on Negotiation Skills for Mediation.
