Introduction and Philosophy of Education – Terry Shorey March 29, 2012 Please let me introduce myself.

My Masters is in Instructional Leadership from National University and I have used these skills in teacher education and student teacher supervision. I have been a classroom teacher, district administrator and work as a coordinator of student teachers on Kauai. I believe that the goal of education is to equip all students with the skills they need to function in a democratic society, using their skills so that they can make a positive difference in the world. Students should know that they can make a difference in the world. I truly feel that, as educators, we must set high standards for ourselves, as well as our students. My philosophy is to educate students of all ages to take leadership roles and to make a positive impact in a changing society. At the college level, I have taught: • Literacy, Reading and Writing • Fundamentals of English and English as a foreign language • Educational Application of Computers • Using Technology Tools in Teaching • Curriculum, Leadership and Instructional Technology I want students to make intelligent choices and strengthen commitment to community service. Students should know that they can make a difference in the world. I really believe that we must set high standards for ourselves, as well as our students. My philosophy is to educate students of all ages to take leadership roles and to make a positive impact in a changing society Warm regards, Terry Shorey
