Kenny Torres, a teacher at the Education Corps Charter School in Long Beach, California, comes to this position following an 18-year tenure at the Los Alamitos Unified School District. A science teacher and head wrestling coach as well as assistant coach to the track and field team and the boys' golf team, he guided the wrestling team to its first league championship in the school's history. Named Sunset League Coach of the Year six times, Kenny Torres earlier distinguished himself as the 2002 Orange County Coach of the Year and the 2016 Science Teacher of the Year.

Mr. Torres joined the Los Alamitos Unified School District after teaching bilingual science for six years with the Long Beach Unified School District, where he also served as head wrestling coach and assistant girls' gymnastics coach.

He graduated cum laude from California State University, Long Beach, with a bachelor of arts in kinesiology and biology and then attended Golden West College, where he received an associate of arts in general education. He has since enhanced his professional qualifications by earning a master of arts in athletic administration.
