Kibibi Ajanku
Kibibi Ajanku is an accomplished dancer, griot, chorographer, and percussionist. Her passion embodies the traditions of Africa through movement, music, and folklore. She brings a soft, flowing nuance to the pulsating tribal movement and rhythms of Africa. She began dancing at the age of three and she has been moving and shaking to the beat of her own drum every since. Her approach to life is ancient while at the same time cutting edge and always changing.
Ajanku is a self-actualized artist who thrives when she is busy creating and nurturing. She began making body butters, healing balms, and oils that are botanically safe and environmentally sound in 1977 bringing smooth skin, wonderful scents, and healing properties. She embodies a natural lifestyle as a life journey.
Kibibi Ajanku is the Founding Mother of the celebrated Sankofa Dance Theater. The Company has been in active and joyous existence for over two decades and is a Baltimore-based institution established to promote authentic African art forms.
