Kristin Ohsfeldt

A Memphis, Tennessee, literacy specialist, Kristin Ohsfeldt employs an individualized approach to evaluating students and developing plans that address deficiencies. She develops lessons that motivate learning and academic success and modifies plans as required. Working with at-risk youth, Kristin Ohsfeldt utilizes small groups as a way of reinforcing knowledge of the core curriculum and provides students with supplementary education that emphasizes reading knowledge. Beginning next school year, she will teach at South Park Elementary in the Shelby County Schools. This school has a large population of English as a second language learners.
Ms. Ohsfeldt taught at a prestigious private school Warren Walker School in Henderson, Nevada, in the late 1990s. As a kindergarten teacher at Warren Walker, she ensured that students gained advanced math and English writing skills, and she coordinated the efforts of her parent volunteers. Ms. Ohsfeldt subsequently has joined South Park Elementary and will continue to provide students with active learning experiences that have clear goals and met the needs of diverse learners.
Outside of her work in the classroom, Kristin Ohsfeldt is active with her son’s school activities and cooks for tailgate parties at his football games and fosters puppies and dogs for Blues City Animal Rescue until the dogs are placed in their forever homes.
