Christen Stevens

My name is Christen Stevens and I am a fifth grade teacher at a Title One and Two school in Orlando, Fl. Most of my students come from a poverty background and have many, many things on their minds other than school. Needless to say, they can be a tough crowd. Knowing this, I try to present the content in a funny, entertaining way. If they're laughing, they're listening.

My family is very important to me. They live in Kentucky (where I'm orignially from) and I miss them more I can verbalize. That's my sister in my profile picture on the left. I'm the dark-haired one attempting to surpress a giggle :)

I have always believed that teaching is one of the most important occupations in the world and I truly believe that mentoring new teachers is one of my life's callings. I always seem to have two or three new teachers in my classroom on a dialy basis asking questions. I love helping them and hope that I make their first year a little more enjoyable.

I'm also very passionate about science and math. I really struggled with those two subjects as a child and I think it's because my teachers didn't know how to relate the content to my life. That's why I try to help my students make connections and encourage them to seek information.
