Kyle Herman

For as long as Kyle Herman can remember he has been interested in science. One of the earliest memorizes he has is teaching a lesson to his classmates about electricity using batteries, wires, and light bulbs in second grade.

While attending Egg Harbor Township High School, as a student, Kyle found his calling in honors and AP biology. He also spent his time playing drums in the high school marching band, playing violin for the school orchestra, and competed in the New Jersey Science League.

After high school Kyle studied molecular biology at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. During his tenure he was able to act as a student teacher in a course for non-science students that involved fun experiments to help with their understanding of scientific concepts. As part of his degree Kyle also had the opportunity to work in a research lab where his data was used for research at MIT.

Before graduating college Kyle was given the opportunity to return to Egg Harbor Township High School and teach college prep chemistry. Since then he has continued teaching that course and now teaches honors chemistry. In 2010 Kyle earned his Masters in Education with a Concentration in Science from Stockton College and is currently in talks with a university about pursuing his PhD in Molecular Biology.

In Kyle’s free time he likes to listen to science podcasts, read on his Kindle, run at the gym, and play Xbox 360. Kyle also enjoys traveling. He has traveled internationally to Japan, England, Scotland, Italy, and the Dominican Republic. Last year he spent the summer driving across the USA where he covered 24 of the 50 states. Next year he plans to return to England and also go to Ireland, Germany, France, and Spain.
