L. Douglas Hoffmann

Grew up in Chicago, which is not at all accurate, but people from Hammond, Indiana, where I really grew up, think Indiana is a suburb of Chicago. Telegram, my 2nd book, should be released very soomn. It's is an emotionally charged story about a Minnesota family whose son is missing-in-action during WWII. As the family struggles with the uncertainty of their son's fate 96 German POWs are moved into a work camp on Big Bear Lake next to the family's resort. The conflict that results shows clearly that wars are not always fought on the battlefield; the combatants are not always soldiers. And telegrams are not always bad news. People often ask me why, after decades of punching the clock to the rhythm of a steady paycheck, did I set sail on the turbulent sea of writing and publishing. The answer is simple. It took me all those decades to finally realize I couldn't cut the corporate mustard. In other words, I couldn't multi-task. So what else is there for a single-minded schmuck like me to do, but write.

I'm currently at work on my 4th novel, another historical fiction set in northern Minnesota at the turn of the 20th century.
