Laine Berry Miller
From La. to NYC to L.A. and back to La., you could say I've gone "full circle" - and picked up a lot of skill and wisdom through life's experiences. Professionally, I am primarily a director of musical theatre productions with a variety of casts, including children, college students, and adults. In 1996, I spearheaded the formation of an educational theatre company that has greatly benefitted children in 5 parishes in Central Louisiana. My gift is the ability to discover and develop performing talents in individuals of all ages. I love to put on an amazing show - with awesome sets, great music, and inspiring performances.
I have recently started my own company: Laine Berry Miller Productions. Classes in Musical Theater, Private Voice Lessons, Film Acting and Audition Training, and - of course - amazing productions!
However, my first love is performing. Favorite roles include "The Witch" in INTO THE WOODS, "Maria" in SOUND OF MUSIC, "Philia" in A FUNNY THING HAPPENED...FORUM, and "Frenchy" in GREASE. Recently performing as "Rona" in SPELLING BEE with my daughter playing the role of "Olive" was a cherished experience I will always remember. I have a BFA in Musical Theatre from University of Cincinnati's Conservatory of Music (CCM).
My inspiration and the heart of my life continues to be my wonderful family. Happily married, living on a plantation and bayou in Louisiana, my husband and I are raising four beautiful, talented, delightful daughters. Each of them makes us so proud!
Favorite professional moments for me were two performances with Jason Graae in New Orleans (at the Blue Room and Le Chat Noir) - both were just cameo appearances, but you can't beat being onstage with such a talented, award-winning entertainer - and the amazing Alex Rybeck!
As a director, it was an absolute thrill to watch my students perform at the Waterside Stage in Downtown Disney at Disney World. They put on a 40 minute high-energy show for a packed audience - including four rows of standing spectators!
I am happy that the film industry is growing here in Louisiana, and hope to be a part of it soon!
