Lauren Maffeo
Writer, Public Speaker, and Editor in Washington, DC
Born and raised in Boston, I first ventured beyond the States as a study abroad student at St. Catherine's College, Oxford. Alongside studying law, psychology, and C.S. Lewis, I discovered the joys of Europe and received my Irish passport three years later.
I returned to the UK one year after Oxford to earn my MSc from The London School of Economics and Political Science. After 18 years as an ongoing student, I started my career in London's Tech City as a tech reporter for news sites including The Guardian and The Next Web.
Today, I'm based in Washington, DC. I write about technology for GetApp - the Web's largest online marketplace for SaaS products - and earned a certificate in Artificial Intelligence: Implications for Business Strategy from MIT Management Executive Education.
I also serve as a speaker in DC's local tech scene and helped organize Europe's largest venture capital competition for women-led startups. In 2017, I was thrilled to be named to The Drum's list of 50 Under 30 women worth watching in digital.
My non-work passions include travel, running, and volunteering. When in doubt, ask me about any of those!
