It all started with my first Kodak Instamatic at age eight. That little camera ignited a love of photography and art that builds in intensity with every year. But I only really started to understand the potential power and artistry in the photographic image in my first photography class in junior college: how the shift in light can change a mood, or how a difference in angle can change a meaning. That realization led me to complete my Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in Photography at Texas Tech University in 1989. Through the years, photography and art have done so much for me, changing my views on the world around me and evoking a passion and emotion in me that I enjoy sharing with others. Every landscape and every person has a special beauty and form. Every portrait captures and reveals. Every man and woman sculpts the light and shadows with his or her own individuality. I've learned in my life as a photographer to be calm and reassuring with my models for the most relaxed experience. I've learned to be patient with my landscape shots to capture that “just right” moment. And I've learned that even product photography takes the right amount of artistry and time to meet my clients' specific and diverse needs. Beauty is everywhere, in every face, body, cloud, mountain or forest. And I want to capture it all.
