I’m Director of Marketing at Arylessence, a fabulous fragrance and flavor house. My background is consumer products, luxury, beauty, and cosmetics brands. My expertise is my insight into consumer attitudes, lifestyles and buying behaviors. This helps me work with our internal creative teams to spot new trends, and work with client product development teams to shape, expand, and grow their brands. Much of what I know comes from my experience as a marketing and sales executive with the most innovative brands in America, including Clinique, Aveda, and The Body Shop, where my responsibilities included new product development, fragrance introductions, sales development and education, and consumer marketing. I worked closely with Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher, the natural products genius, as well as Anita Roddick, the inspired entrepreneur who built The Body Shop. My work with Horst and Anita shaped my creativity, commitment to excellence, strategic brand building, and attention to detail. What I learned from them is how great brands (and new brands) can use fragrance and product design to align with major trends and successfully connect to consumers. At Arylessence, I lead a marketing team that understands the power of sensory messaging, digs deeply into consumer behavior, and creatively supports clients with marketing insights and innovations. As editor of Arylessence TrendWatch, a yearly review of trends that define the American consumer, I have unique insights into new directions for product development, fragrance design, and marketing.
