Dr. Louis Weisberg

In 1972, Dr. Louis Weisberg earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Bacteriology from the University of California, Los Angeles. Immediately continuing his studies, Dr. Weisberg entered Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, completing an M.D. in 1976. Directly afterward, Dr. Louis Weisberg began a psychiatric internship and residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Rising to the rank of Chief Resident in the Department of Psychiatry in 1978, Dr. Weisberg finished his residency in 1979. In the same year Dr. Weisberg earned a Leo G. Rigler Award in Academic Excellence from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Supported by a broad postgraduate education in medicine, Dr. Louis Weisberg holds a board certification in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Weisberg graduated from The Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Society and Institute in 1999, after completing a curriculum in psychoanalysis. He continues to participate at the Institute, renamed as the New Center for Psychoanalysis, as an instructor in the psychoanalytic curriculum. Additionally, he teaches psychoanalytic dream theory to students in the psychoanalytic psychotherapy program. In order to refine his expertise in matters of substance addiction, he finished a buprenorphine training program from the American Society of Addiction Medicine in 2005. Dr. Louis Weisberg participates as a Member of the American Medical Association, the American Psychoanalytic Association, and the American Psychiatric Association. He supports an enhanced global medical network through the International Psychoanalytic Association. Equally committed to assisting peer to peer relationships within nearby communities, Dr. Weisberg holds membership in the California Society of Addiction Medicine. Since finishing a psychiatric residency in 1979, Dr. Louis Weisberg has maintained a private practice in psychiatry and psychoanalysis in Los Angeles, California. Offering his services through a variety of venues, Dr. Weisberg has also served as a consulting and treating Psychiatrist at the Airport Marina Counseling Service, the Central Juvenile Hall, and the Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall. Serving occasionally as an expert legal witness in psychiatry, Dr. Louis Weisberg has offered his professional expertise in cases since 1993.
