Luke Lonergan

A partnership with Sun Microsystems was announced by Greenplum in July 2006. Majority of Greenplum customers employed the reference architecture Sun Microsystems to run its database up till a Linux transition was made in the 2009 timeframe. In July 2010, Greenplum was acquired by EMC Corporation, paving the way for the foundation of the Big Data Division of EMC. At the time of the acquisition, Greenplum products included: Chorus; Greenplum Database and Data Science Labs. Greenplum readily grew its customer base in vertical markets ranging from financial services, telecommunications and retail to Internet, transportation and the pharmaceuticals sectors. Those customers included Zions Bancorporation, Silver Spring Networks, NYSE Euronext, Reliance Communications, Havas Digital, Orbitz, NYSE, Tagged and China Unicom.
