MARLON GOBEL
Marlon Gobel began his fashion career with two established menswear brands; Thom Browne and Michael Bastian. Gobel wanted a full appreciation for the fashion industry before starting his own label, and after seven years working alongside both designers, Marlon launched his eponymous line with a fashion proficiency unlike any other menswear designer.
The launch of MARLON GOBEL was strategic; it was only about when, Autumn/Winter 2010. Over the past three years the brand has become synonymous with beautifully tailored, luxury men's clothing (sold at Bergdorf Goodman - first season) along with Marlon's New York Fashion Week runway shows (worked as headlining brand with DETAILS magazine for the S/S 2013 runway show).
"The goal is to give men clothing that looks & feels familiar, but is slightly more unique. Your suit is still beautifully tailored, but the fabric is a color you've never seen before. You're wearing a bow-tie, but it's made from amazing Swarovski crystal elements. I want men to feel special, not like a spectacle. The brand is always rooted in classic tailoring...it's DNA is artistic and elegant."
Marlon's work with influential design houses (Christian Louboutin, Swarovski, and Bumble & bumble) and well-established companies (Pepsico, Clavin Klein, and Lincoln Center) are recent personal highlights. He was also chosen as the only menswear representative for the A/W 2012 & S/S 2013 Swarovski Collective.
At the moment Gobel's focus remains on making, "special, well-made men's clothing." However, the brand will eventually expand into womenswear, accessories, and fragrance.
Marlon works and produces his collections in Manhattan's Garment District. He also lives in New York City.
