Madiona Caesar
Author, Song Writer, and Public Speaker in New York, New York
Born and raised in North Carolina, author, speaker, and singer-songwriter Madiona “Maddie” Caesar has always had a passion for people of all ages and the community at large. Therefore, it is no surprise that she attended seminary and received a master's degree in Urban Ministry. An ordained Elder whose title is Reverend, Madiona prefers to be called on rather than called by a title which is evident as she demonstrates her gifts under variations of her real name. She feels the expression and influence of her gifts and talent are far more important than calling her by a proper title.
In 2011 she wrote, produced, recorded, and released a full-length CD, Black Swann--an eclectic mix of R&B, Pop, Rock, and Jazz, commonly considered in the Neo-Soul genre. She began hosting and performing her original songs in showcases as fundraisers to fight against breast cancer in conjunction with the American Cancer Society. In 2012 the event became known as the Madiona Caesar and Friends FABC (Fight Against Breast Cancer) fundraiser.
In 2015, she created the inspired event RAIN which represents Rise, Acclimate, Involve, and Nurture, an intentional networking opportunity for those in small business to meet others like themselves in NYC and to share information and build relationships.
Also in 2015 she completed her first novel, Days Like This: A Collection of Spiritual Stories to Inspire. She has authored several other books under the pseudonym Ruth C. Durant including, The Little Iron Light Post, Morning Is For Dancing, and Tested. She is currently writing two Spiritual Formation-based books rooted in her journey through the Urban Ministry track at Alliance Theological Seminary. Her first children's book was published in 2022 and follows the story of a young caterpillar named Emmy enjoying life on the way to becoming a butterfly. In 2024 She released the second book in the Emmy The Caterpillar and Friends series, “Emmy Makes A New Friend,” under the name Maddie Caesar. As of 2025, Madiona has returned to her roots, the stage! She has been cast in two musicals, I Matter, and Didn’t Know My Own Strength, both written by playwright, Michael Carr. Upcoming projects include the Emmy and Friends YouTube channel, more inspiring stories, and a podcast that speaks truth with a flare!
