How to condense almost 70 years in 2400 words? Spent many years as an AF Brat, graduating from HS in Wiesbaden, Germany in 1960. Cancer survivor: Left leg amputated in July 1959. Prognosis poor in those days: 1 year to live? Here I am 52 years later, not without scars. Didn't have emotional/psych counseling back then, so my family and I had to "wing it". I didn't deal with a lot of things (possible molestation also), so medicated myself with alcohol. Went to rehab in 1986 and haven't had a drink (or drugs) since. Switched addictions to gambling. Stopped that in 2005. Married three times; have three children: ages 45, 43 and 23 (big gap between #2 and #3). Have grandchildren from the oldest two. After 20 years as a nomad and then 30 years in southern California, I'm finally at "home" in Las Vegas where I've lived since 1994. I'm a "late bloomer" - still learning; grateful for the wonderful invention of the internet and especially Facebook. Other loves (besides my family): my five dogs (they give me unconditional love and it is returned); music, most kinds; it makes the world go round - and connects so many through its common bond. I like to connect with musicians, artists, creative people, people who care about others and the world we live in. I'm "anti" violence, prejudice, judgmental people. I'm a former secretary, medical transcriptionist, and have published one book: "Las Vegas - The Fabulous First Century". Want to write more - including a biography, and a book about devotees of amputees - a largely untapped phenomenon. In the process, I hope to continue to learn more about myself and others. Goals: Get a job I can do from home that will "keep me afloat" and hopefully enable me to buy that "house on the plateau" overlooking the Las Vegas city lights that I love so well. Don't want to be rich, just want to pay the bills, get out of debt, and live comfortably. Not too much to ask, is it?
