Marco Vigelini has started his IT career as C software developer in 1998, integrating into a well-known GIS engine software specific DLL for the computation of shortest paths, location of equipments and so on.

Since 1999 Marco Vigelini has moved as an Oracle PRO*C and PL/SQL application developer where he began to update and maintain Oracle databases on Solaris platform.

At about 2005 he definitively switched his principal career to the Oracle database administrator path.

In his working career Marco Vigelini worked for well-known IT companies such as ElsagDatamat (a Finmeccanica company, the leading industrial group in the high technology sector in Italy and one of the main global players in aerospace, defence and security), Retentia (leader in CDR traffic management and data retention), Acotel (a global telecommunications company operating in mobile telecommunications, value added services for mobile communications, mobile messaging and security systems for large companies), Noverca (a Full Mobile Virtual Network Operator).

He is specialized in managing large volume database and highly competent in Oracle database administration: his main interest is on Real Application Clusters solution and RMAN scenarios.

Marco Vigelini is currently RAC SIG Italy Chapter Chair of Oracle Rac SIG (Oracle Real Application Clusters Special Interest Group) where he has been a member and published technical documents since 2008. Marco has written and published several other Oracle related white-papers on dba-village.com website. On his Oracle blog created since 2006 (dbaworkshop.blogspot.com) you can find several other technical posts, different crash and recovery scenarios and step-by-step general purpose guide.

In the city where he lives, Marco Vigelini is currently leading a Coderdojo, a free coding club for young people where he teaches kids to use programming languages such as Scratch, Python, Processing or "making things" with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. He also is a mentor of Coderdojo Roma, where he has taken part at sessions for the Maker Faire Rome, RomeCup and Global Game Jam Roma.
