I lived a full and totally upside down life. Born into an Irish Family. Brought up in the midlands, a huge Irish community exisited there. While the effects of the troubles affected the Northern part of Ireland, no one gave it a thought that the Irish setlers in the UK were being put through the mill. The profound effect on me, my parents, uncles, all members of our family turned out to be, ever lasting! After taking 36 years to realise the world didn't belong to me, I had to adopt those new rules. That took another 5/6 years to implement.**_My acting Career started after my release from prison in 1987, it soon became apparent that I was talented in many genres, one of them being painting. As a self taught artist, I was good enough to sell many paintings and yet my confidence always held me back, due to my memories of where I came from. However my acting talent seems to be held back not by me but by the elite of the business in the UK. They decide who gets the roles in our Theater's, Television and film. I could go to my meetings and act out some middle/upper class arse, but I refuse to play the stupid game they expect from their actor's. Acting has always been easy for me, I never thought one day I would be an actor. It was very different playing a role on stage and not in the British Court's, besides that I got paid and not jailed! These austerity times calls for every business to tighten up it's belt, the Theater and TV companies have kept all the work for their own kind. We get pitiful commercials, but that has been battered, we hardly earn anything these days? They exploit all the wannabe's, Some work for nothing, but they don't go forward, they just work for nothing; They don't realise the harm they do to the profession, it just makes it easier for film production companies to exploit actors even more. That makes it harder for those who deserve better and play more challenging roles, the opportunity of reaching a comfortable position and earn a decent living. It angers me to see the upper class actor and especially the ones who are there because of the severe nepotism that exists in the business, play the east ender, the scouse, the Geordie, all using drama taught accents! Why not let the east ender play the east ender, the Scousers play the scousers etc, etc. It's disgusting and it appears to be getting worse.Across the water, the good old USA is very different. I admire the USA, their attitude, bein
