Marlys Weaver-Stoesz

Marlys’ passion for media and building committee converge in much of her current work.

Marlys has her bachelor’s degree in journalism and worked for three-and-a-half years for The Elkhart Truth, covering crime and safety in Elkhart County, education and youth issues in Elkhart County, and writing features out of the Goshen and Middlebury committees. She has also been published in The South Bend Tribune, The Farmer’s Exchange and MSNBC.com. Her marketing experience has included work for Maple City Market in downtown Goshen, New World Arts in Goshen, the American Guernsey Youth Association, Mennonite Church USA’s Central District Conference and Goshen Community Schools.

Her areas of focus include food and agriculture, having grown up on a dairy farm in Harrison Township, Elkhart County, Ind., and education, having covered local schools and education issues for more than three years for a local news company.

Along with doing freelance work for a number of community organizations, Marlys has also been the marketing director for GoShakes, the Goshen (Ind.) Shakespeare company and proofreader/copy editor for Purebred Publishing, based in Columbus, Ohio. She has also been a member of the United Way of Elkhart County‘s education panel and of the First Fridays taskforce for downtown Goshen.

She is currently the administrator of communication and marketing for the Marcopa County Education Service Agency.
