Captain Martin Sanders, Ph.D., is a Public Health Professional and an officer in the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service, where he was appointed by the Surgeon General as Chief Scientist. He presently serves as Director of Safety, Environmental Compliance and Emergency Management for Federal Occupational Health, Program Support Center, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration. He is also the acting Chief of Safety for the Department of Health and Human Services, responsible for regulatory oversight related to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
He is an alumnus of the University of California, Davis, where he received his degree in zoology in 1990, and the John Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health, where he finished his doctorate in 1997.
