Matt Smiley is a multi-faceted artist. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Smiley was heavily influenced by his grandparents, who passed on a deep appreciation for art and culture.

Commencing his career as an actor, Smiley garnered worldwide critical success with "Kamataki", a film directed by Claude Gagnon. He then moved to Los Angeles and transitioned to film & book development after spending time studying theater in France. From 2007 to 2009, Smiley worked on Moët Hennessy • Louis Vuitton CEO, Bernard Arnault’s biography as an editor and writing collaborator with Per-Henrik Mansson. He worked for several years alongside French movie megastar Dany Boon ("Bienvenue Chez les Ch'tis"), before branching out to produce "Rituals," and Ashton Kutcher-executive produced web-series created by Mean Magazine founder Kashy Khaledi that streams on the Katalyst ThrashLab YouTube Channel.

In June 2012, Smiley travelled to northern British Columbia to direct "Highway of Tears" a documentary film based on the missing women along Highway 16. The film will be released to the general public in early 2015, shedding light on a disturbing problem that has been largely ignored by the government and media, and which has disrupted normal life amongst the aboriginal communities in northern Canada. "Highway of Tears" marks the first producing collaboration between acclaimed Canadian actress, Carly Pope and Smiley. The film premiered in March 2014 at the TIFF Human Rights Watch Film Festival.

Smiley then produced "Metropolis", a music video directed by Mr. Brainwash for David Guetta and Nicky Romero. The video was released on October 19, 2012 and has reached over 11 million viewers on YouTube.

He is currently producing original art pieces for shows in Los Angeles, Paris, Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal in 2015. His last exhibit in May 2013 was with Oscar Nominated Actor, Artist, Director, James Franco and Jeff Wack at the Sherry Theatre in North Hollywood.

Smiley recently starred in "Interference", a German feature film. He also signed on to direct two high-profile documentaries, a televison pilot and a feature film that will shoot in the summer of 2015.
