Health Policy in Portland, Oregon
Matthew Ulsh moved to Oregon to complete his Masters In Public Health, and currently works as an operations and policy analyst at the Oregon State Public Health Laboratory. Previously he studied political science and geography at Florida State University.
Before moving to Oregon he spent 7 years working as a scientific support contractor with the US Antarctic Program- working everywhere from research icebreakers in the Southern Ocean to the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station. Recent adventures include 4 months spent in Sierra Leone working with MSF/ Doctors Without Borders, and filling in as a deckhand and cook in Alaska on the fishing boat of a friend.
In addition to health policy and polar science, he is also keenly interested in harm reduction policies, and the public health implications of international conflict. Matt rides his bike everywhere he goes and thinks that working in groups is the best way to solve problems.
