A former pro athlete, he was ranked the #1 junior tennis player in Switzerland and recruited by Roger Federer’s coach as a highly-touted prospect, equivalent to first-round draft pick. On the European and World Junior tennis tour, Matthias competed against some of the all-time best, such as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, before suffering a career-ending leg injury, which forced him to pivot overnight.
