Maya Eibschitz-Tsimhoni
Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Michigan Health System, Maya Eibschitz-Tsimhoni, M.D., has spent her career learning about and caring for the human eye.
As an expert on primary congenital glaucoma, Maya Eibschitz-Tsimhoni, M.D., is one of a handful of specialists able to perform the surgery to prevent loss of vision or blindness in infants. Dr. Eibschitz-Tsimhoni is a pioneer in the field and owns two patents for her creation of a new tool and procedure for intraocular incision.
A published author numerous times over, Maya Eibschitz-Tsimhoni, M.D., has received multiple awards for her work and research. Besides finishing first in consecutive Resident Paper Competitions held by the Michigan Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Eibschitz-Tsimhoni has also won the George Slocum Resident Research Award twice, as well as a research award from the nonprofit Research to Prevent Blindness and the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology. Dr. Eibschitz-Tsimhoni has also secured research grants from organizations such as the Michigan Eye Bank, the Blind Children Center, and The Wayne and Joan Webber Foundation.
Maya Eibschitz-Tsimhoni, M.D., also maintains membership in several medical societies. In 1999, she joined the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. In 2007, she joined the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.
