Possessing a background spanning both education and fashion, Melanie Salkin engaged as Rose Salkin Bridals and Fashions’ head merchandise buyer for more than 20 years. Responsible for selecting spring and fall season outfits, Melanie Salkin paid close attention to fashion trends, as well as the style preferences of her core Brooklyn clientele.

She also gained a reputation for her taste in selecting and designing the dresses worn by mothers of the brides, and her designs emerged as trendsetters at weddings throughout the Greater New York region.

Attending Lehman College in the Bronx, Ms. Salkin graduated with honors as an elementary education major. She minored in speech and theater, and has extensive experience tutoring elementary school students in local schools. Among her techniques of generating student interest was bringing in the newspaper sports section and reading and discussing the stories. Melanie Salkin has gained a sense of personal satisfaction at having had the opportunity to enrich many young lives over the years.
