Michael Hill – Founder, Uncrewed Aerospace
Internationally recognized as one of the leading authorities in advanced air mobility (AAM) and unmanned systems technology, in the last decade, Michael has built a career at the forefront of aviation innovation. He is the Founder of Uncrewed Aerospace™, a company dedicated to bridging aviation tradition with the future of unmanned systems through advanced training, strategic consulting, and UAS program development.
Currently, Michael serves as Chief Flight Instructor and UAS Program Manager for Dallas College, where he leads the implementation of the ASTM-certified Unmanned Safety Institute (USI) curriculum across seven Dallas College campuses and virtually worldwide.
His work ensures that students and professionals alike receive industry-relevant, high-standard training, while also fostering partnerships, building workforce pipelines, and driving job placement opportunities in the fast-growing drone sector.
Michael’s career includes architecting a complex international UAV operation—which included the first international cross-border UAV cargo mission for a global automotive manufacturer and an offshore resupply program for a major oil and gas client. He has also provided UAV integration, training, and operational solutions to public safety agencies and commercial organizations worldwide.
With over 6,000 UAV flight hours and 7,800+ incident-free missions as Remote Pilot-in-Command, Michael is certified in three nations:
- United States – FAA Part 107
- United Kingdom – CAA RPAS
- Canada – TC RPAS
He also holds credentials from FEMA, FAA, OSHA, NIST, and USI, underscoring his commitment to safety and regulatory compliance. His leadership earned him the 2021 Tech Titans Technology Advocate Award, recognizing his impact in advancing drone adoption and innovation.
Michael’s influence extends into policy and public safety leadership. He has served as Chairperson of the North Central Texas Council of Governments’ UAS Taskforce, Legislative & Policy Committee, and as an appointed member of the Texas HB2340-Public Safety UAS and Texas SB763-AAM Committees, where he worked directly with legislators to shape drone laws and standards in Texas.
In parallel, his service background is equally distinguished. As a Lieutenant and Director of Unmanned Operations for the Texas Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, he became a certified Search and Rescue Drone Pilot, supporting FEMA disaster missions nationwide and training over 1,750 membersof the Texas Wing to become Certified Remote Pilots. He also served as Training Officer for the North Texas, Public Safety Unmanned Response Team (PSURT), where he developed training programs for law enforcement, fire, and emergency management teams across Texas.
As a sought-after speaker, educator, and thought leader, Michael shares his expertise globally on applications of unmanned systems in aerial mapping, telecommunications, wind energy, oil & gas sensing, infrastructure inspection, cargo logistics, and search-and-rescue operations.
