Michael Daniels

I am a retired University lecturer in Psychology, now living in the Isle of Man.

I was brought up in Bath, Somerset, where I was educated at City of Bath Boys School (1961-1968). I studied Psychology at the University of Leeds, and graduated with BSc (Hons, 1st Class) in 1974 and PhD in 1981.

I worked in Liverpool as a lecturer in psychology for 32 years, at City of Liverpool College of Higher Education (1979-1985), Liverpool Polytechnic (1985-1992) , and Liverpool John Moores University (1992-2010). From 1993-1998 I also trained and practiced as an honorary psychotherapist (psychodynamic) within the National Health Service.

I am the author of more than 30 academic articles and chapters, and two books: 'Self-Discovery the Jungian Way: The Watchword Technique' (Routledge, 1992, revised 2014 ), and 'Shadow, Self, Spirit: Essays in Transpersonal Psychology' (Imprint Academic, 2005). I am also former Editor of 'Transpersonal Psychology Review,' the Journal of the British Psychological Society Transpersonal Psychology Section.

I am a keen magician and mentalist and author of a number of technical ebooks based on magical effects I have created. I have developed and maintain four educational-entertainment websites: www.psychicscience.org; www.transpersonalscience.org; www.mindmagician.org and www.watchwordtest.com.

I have a particular interest in exploring my family history and have also spent many years researching the life and career of Edward St John Daniel VC, the first man and only officer to be stripped of the Victoria Cross. A summary of this research is presented at my website www.danielvc.com

I am married to Dr Catriona Mackie, who is Lecturer in History at the Isle of Man College . I have two grown-up daughters from a previous marriage.
